Kelly Winn
Kelly is a kindergarten teacher in a public school outside of Boston. She has a BA in Early Childhood from Boston College and an MS in Reading and Language from University of Massachusetts. She has lead professional development seminars in for other teachers and paraprofessionals at her school and continues to share lesson plans with teachers around the globe at teachers.net. Kelly is also trained in the Orton Gillingham method, often used to help students with dyslexia. She has spent the past three summers working at a school dedicated to helping children with language based learning disabilities.
In 2007, Kelly was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She has spent the past two years reading and analyzing the limited research on this functional disorder and visiting with different doctors. She is committed to easing her own symptoms and helping others with a similar diagnosis to continue to enjoy a high quality of life.
Always a very active child and young adult, Kelly has recently become even more interested in physical fitness. She has participated in many different physical challenges including a sprint triathlon and an advanced kettlebell course. Tying this interest in with her professional life, she is also interested in the link between being active and learning.
Kelly's other interests include traveling, trying out new restaurants, planning weddings and blogging.
